"This quartet is an extension of my working trio, and house band at Brooklyn's Main Drag Series. Over the course of 2022 I brought the group in to Scholes Street Studio six times for live performances/recordings. This is in keeping with my belief that the most significant music, in Jazz, as well as other idioms, comes about through long term group development. In this mode I have expanded the trio consisting of myself, Adam Lane, and Kevin Shea, which has performed every other week since 2017 as the house band at both the Bushwick and Main Drag Series, to include pianist Shinya Lin."

"These various quartet recordings should be regarded as part of an integral whole, and may be treated as a comparative study. For me, as a saxophonist, these quartet performances have greatly deepened, and broadened my understanding of my own sound/phrasing uniqueness, and how it works with others. What better path to musical self-awareness than to hear one's voice/concepts reflected back through the playing of some of today's greatest living musical personalities? My hope is that as the listener compares the various quartets, and how each group interacts, they are also able to perceive that invisible, unique 'something'.. what it is that makes each of these quartets 'Gauci's thing'" .
